She Does Tri Staff

Andrea Mathias, Coach

In her own words:

met Krista and David of She Does Tri in 2009.  In my mind they are ambassadors for the sport of Triathlon. Their dedication, experience and enthusiasm for health and fitness comes out when you talk to them.  Those who are lucky enough to come and train with them get to experience a unique dynamic, as they have what I would call an open arms approach to their camps, welcoming other local athletes (professional and amateur) in the area to their clinics, not running away from them in fear of competition.  After 20+ years of riding horses competitively, I have seldom seen this open arms approach and one of the reasons why I wanted to come back and support She Does Tri!

In 2007 I did my first 5K and quite frankly was not sure if I would make it. After finishing, I said, ok what's next?  I loved swimming as a kid, and my husband had gotten me into riding bikes, so in 2008 I completed my first triathlon. I guess you can say that I was hooked because in 2010 I competed in 8 races, including Eagleman and Triple T.  I enjoyed each one for different reasons, mostly the support and camaraderie of others. For me the sport of triathlon is not about winning but about the experience and about the sense of accomplishment.  While riding horses, so much of what I did relied on my mount staying sound and healthy to compete.  Triathlon removes that element and makes it all about what I am able to put into it.  Some training days are better than others, but the whole process is always an adventure!"
